Faculty Position in Medieval Studies Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor in Medieval Studies with an emphasis on German literature and culture. Desirable is an additional competency in Medieval Scandinavian Studies and the ability to work in a comparative and interdisciplinary framework such as the global Middle Ages, visual studies, cultural theory, ecocriticism, and/or gender studies.
Successful candidates are expected to teach a broad range of courses in English and German at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.
PhD in Medieval Germanic Studies or in a closely related field required. PhD in hand by June 1, 2017 for a start date of August 16, 2017; the starting salary is competitive.
